I just came across the work of
Mathew Simmonds who is a stone carver and sculptor from the UK. He combines his background in art and cathedral restoration into these stunning pieces of work. I really like his way of using the natural shape of the stone to create openings for light. His use of light and shadow really creates a real sense of space. Take the time to look through his portfolio, some pretty amazing stuff in there.
